Getting to know state-of-the-art technologies, developing new solutions, playing a leading role in shaping the digital future: every single IT project in the Federal Administration challenges your creativity, demands complex thinking and pursues the goal of increasing the quality of work and life for citizens.
The KMZdigital project aims to improve the quality, effectiveness and agility of national security and crisis management. To this end, we are developing and maintaining an intuitive, interactive and user-friendly platform. This facilitates the exchange between the FDFA and the Swiss representations abroad, and creates the technological prerequisites for state-of-the-art security and crisis management.
- Rapid digital developments in security and crisis management
- Efficient approach to multilingualism (automated translations)
- Master data management that uses synergies (EDAContacts, EDAvis)
"Private PaaS" is a platform in the private cloud of the FDJP which enables the development, execution and administration of your own specialised applications (apps) without the need to build up the extensive infrastructure that is usually required. Developers can provide and operate the specialised applications on the platform independently and automatically. The platform supports modern microservice architecture and can also be used by Swiss citizens. It meets the highest availability and security requirements.
- Diversity of requirements and needs
- Matching a self-service approach to individual users
- Stringent requirements in terms of security and data protection
- Time pressure
- Legal requirements that prohibit the use of a public cloud
The web applications and apps developed within a very short time enabled the generation, delivery and verification of COVID-19 certificates for people who had been vaccinated, recovered or tested. They facilitated travel, allowed businesses to open up and individuals' private lives to return to normal, and quickly achieved a high level of acceptance.
- Diversity of stakeholders and their expectations
- Stringent requirements in terms of security and data protection
- Integration of the population, politics, businesses and medical professionals
- Public trust
- EU compatibility
- Time pressure

The app is already very popular and was named best Swiss app in the 2021 "Master of Swiss Apps" awards. It is part of swisstopo's support for the implementation of the federal Open Government Data Strategy for transparent and freely usable government data.
- Creating the most positive user experience possible from complex data and functions
